University Recreation & Wellness Accessibility
RecWell is committed to providing facilities, programs, services and employment opportunities that are inclusive to the entire UMD community. Programs are designed to allow participation by all. Except for the Reckord Armory (no elevator), all RecWell facilities meet the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) compliance requirements and standards. Guide/aid animals are permitted.

RecWell Adaptive Climbing
RecWell's Climbing Wall values inclusion and is committed to creating spaces that are accessible to all members of the UMD community. To foster a community for underrepresented groups, we are hosting affinity spaces at the climbing wall throughout the spring semester. Affinity spaces can be a place for underrepresented people in a community to come together to feel less isolated and more connected.
No sign-up is required! Participants can simply show up at the Eppley RecWell climbing wall. They should be wearing comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes.

JTCC, a tennis center in College Park, offers free weekly wheelchair tennis clinics on Sundays from 1-3 p.m. The clinics are open to people with disabilities of all ages, from beginners to experienced players. Sports wheelchairs and tennis rackets are provided.
Wheelchair tennis has only one difference between its able-bodied counterpart: the tennis ball may bounce up to two times instead of just once. Everything else—the scoring, size of the court, equipment—is the same, and you can play the sport with anyone whether they are playing in a wheelchair or not! The qualification to compete in official competition is a permanent disability that affects mobility at or below the waist. If you do not have a qualifying disability but are still interested in learning more about the sport or volunteering, you are more than welcome to attend!
